Luke Johns

As a past tradie now turned Teacher. I have lived a hectic life. Leaving school at 15 to complete my apprenticeship was a big wake-up call. Being thrown into the adult workforce was a growth stage like no other. Upon completion of my apprenticeship, I took off traveling to the USA to run summer camps for three years. Having worked with youth in Perth from age 14-21, attending the WA Young Salesians Camps as a camper and Camp Leader and coaching junior sport in my local area, I was fortunate enough to be nominated for WA Young Person of the Year.

Having returned from the USA Summer Camps, I felt drawn to following my passion for sport and teaching and decided to quit my trade at 25 to study Education. Upon graduation as a Phy’s Ed Teacher, I have worked all around WA from Halls Creek, Kununurra, Karratha, Geraldton and locally here in Perth. I am currently the Co-ordinator of VET and Careers at a Catholic College in Perth.

I have a passion and love for sports, and I continue to play Baseball, AFL, and Basketball at age 39. In recent times I have formed an addiction to Golf.

My aim is to help (younger) people make better-informed decisions by empowering them with information and Education. I look to guide young people towards a positive future in which they have the confidence to encounter life’s challenges whilst being able to contribute to society with a positive impact and have enthusiasm for what’s to come in their lives.
