Overhaul Program

The Overhaul Program involves a small group of participants (between 10 and 20) and spends eight weeks changing all of the important areas of their lives, connected to their health and wellbeing.

There are 4 focuses specifically to change;

  • Nutrition
  • Movement
  • Stress Management
  • Lifestyle

 

The program is designed to holistically change the health and well-being of a person at any age or stage of their lives. This program can be run for students or staff in a school, or workers in any corporate setting.

Time is spent time testing all areas before and after the program, to quantify the changes made by taking the following actions:

  • Ensuring the body is receiving the nutrients it needs
  • Reducing the amount of toxins going into the body
  • Reducing inflammation in the body through a range of focuses
  • Exercising everyday
  • Changing how we think
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Changing how we respond to stress

 

Pre-program testing is two hours in duration and involves the following:

  • The larger group is split into 3 smaller groups
  • Rotating around 3 different stations – 40 minutes each
    • Fitness Test
    • Psychological Test
    • Nutritional Analysis
  • Fitness Test
    • Beep Test
    • Push Ups
    • Sit Ups
    • Movement Analysis
    • Bio Age Test
  • DASS Test
  • Nutritional Analysis
    • Food Diary
    • 3 Days Record Intake – Food and drink (Including brand names and cooking method)
    • Food Analysis database

 

8 Week Program – Overview

  • Once a week – The group receive a 1-hour training session with one of the personal trainers, ensuring they are taught how to use the gym properly and how to adapt exercises to personal requirements
  • Once a week – The group join an educational workshop, learning practical lessons on how to change food choices, consider how they exercise, how they think and how to manage stress
  • During this time, there is the potential for one group outing such as laser tag, rock climbing etc.

Educational Workshops

  • Health and Well-Being – ways to improve our health and manage stress in a practical way
  • Self Esteem – how to recognise if we have a low self esteem and how to change it
  • Food Choices (cooking workshop and demonstration) – why we need to be choosing the foods we eat carefully
  • Nutrients (myths) – which foods contain what kinds of nutrients and which foods are toxic for our body

Support during the Program

  • Group Facebook Page – online access to The Overhaul Program team to ask questions and to find support from the team and from each other
  • Personal training group session – face to face once a week -learn how to use the gym in the right way

All participants are tested at the start (pre-test) and at the end (post-test) of the program to gauge results and impact over the 8 weeks.


Results of the Overhaul Program

Health and Well-Being

  • 100% of participants improved in all 12 systems tested in the body (via Health and Well-Being Questionnaire)
  • 30% average improvement in all systems in the body
  • Improvements averaged over group of participants:
    • Brain/ Nervous System  – 39%
    • Cardiovascular System  – 39%
    • Musculoskeletal System  – 37%
    • Gastrointestinal System  – 37%
    • Endocrine System  – 30%
    • Immune System  – 26%
    • Respiratory System  – 26%

Fitness, Posture and Movement

  • 100% of participants improved in all 12 systems tested in the body (via Health and Well-Being Questionnaire)
  • 30% average improvement in all systems in the body
    • Functional Stability – 103.9%
    • Upper Body Strength – 83.2%
    • Core Endurance – 34.2%

Psychological

  • 88% of participants improved across all 4 areas tested
  • HIGHLIGHT – 3 participants moved from severely depressed during the ‘Pre-test’ phase into a normal range during the post-test’ phase on the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS)

Conclusive Statements

  • 100% of the participants felt healthier as a result of the Overhaul Program
  • 90% of the participants learnt new things they can apply to the rest of their life during Overhaul Program
  • 100% of the participants admit having more energy following the Overhaul Program
  • 100% of the participants feel more confident as a result of the Overhaul Program
  • 100% of the participants feel better equipped to make healthier choices with food as a result of the Overhaul Program
  • 90% of the participants express feeling much fitter due to the Overhaul Program
  • 80% of the participants admit to sleeping better as a result of the Overhaul Program
  • 50% of the participants have experienced a greater capacity to manage stress as a result Overhaul Program
  • 100% of the participants enjoyed the activities run during the Overhaul Program
  • 100% of the participants would recommend the Overhaul Program to others
  • 100% of students had fun participating in the Overhaul Program
